Meet the Author: S. Jae-Jones

S. Jae JonesS. Jae-Jones, called JJ, is a voracious and indiscriminate reader, an avid traveller, and something of an adrenaline junkie. Born and raised in sunny Los Angeles, she lived in New York City for ten years before relocating down to Dixie, where she is comfortably growing fat on grits and barbecue. When not writing, she can be found rock-climbing, skydiving, taking photographs, drawing pictures, and dragging her dog on ridiculously long hikes.

JJ’s debut novel, WINTERSONG (Thomas Dunne, February 7, 2017) is a YA Fantasy. A young woman must journey to the Underground to rescue her sister from the clutches of the Goblin King.

Fun Facts:

The two or three items she needs to have with her when she sits down to write: a mug of tea, a moleskine journal, and a pen that’s not too scratchy or too inky.

The literary character she’d most like to meet: Lyra Belaqua from HIS DARK MATERIALS by Philip Pullman.

Her favorite childhood book: HIS DARK MATERIALS by Philip Pullman.

Her hobbies when she’s not writing/reading: I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie; I used to skydive pretty regularly and have a skydiving license. I also rock climb and do yoga. I also play piano and draw.

Her favorite Muppet and why: Cookie Monster. He speaks to me on a soul level.

The craziest thing she did when she was 17: I was a good girl, so the “craziest” thing I did was to drop physics my senior year. Yeah, I know.

If she could travel anywhere in the world, she’d go to: Hogwarts.
